Solar Sail Deployment System
Custom OrderCompact, deployable boom system for CubeSat solar sails. Solves common "blossoming" issues using a tri-boom configuration and solid carbon rods.
The primary challenge for CubeSat solar sails is packaging a massive membrane structure into a compact volume without jamming. This project utilizes a 3-boom configuration with solid Carbon Fiber rod guides.
This "Tri-Boom" design increases available stowage volume by 30% and shifts tribology to a low-friction carbon-on-carbon interface, preventing deployment failures.
